Organic foods have no chemicals and pesticides. Over 350 chemical pesticides are used in non-organic farming resulting in residual effects harmful to human beings, birds, animals, flora & fauna.
Organic food is healthy as it contains higher levels of vitamin C and essential minerals such as calcium, magnesium, iron and chromium as well as cancer-fighting antioxidants. The food is well-balanced soils produce strong, healthy plants that become nourishing food for our bodies. Moreover, organic food products are made with natural ingredients and not with artificial flavoring agents or coloring agents.
Organic foods have not been genetically modified. Seeds which are genetically modified or plants which have immune genetically modified substances are harmful to nature and end up destroying vital nutrients and adding poisons to the environment.
Organic foods are grown in such a sustainable manner that they discourage percolation of pollutants and also nitrogen from the soil.
Organic Foods increase the energy levels of the body and also protect farm workers, children who would otherwise be exposed to toxins causing diseases and incurable ailments like cancer.
Organic Foods although are a little more expensive than conventional foods, but they have no hidden costs. Conventional food prices do not reflect the hidden costs borne by the taxpayer in the form of subsidies, pesticide regulation and testing, hazardous waste disposal and environmental damage. The extra costs being paid for organic foods actually takes care of Fair –Trade Practices as the Farm labour and farmers are paid more for their organic produce.
